Izard County Fair Livestock Awards Program Honors Champions

Almost $7,000 in prizes and awards was presented to the champions of
their respective divisions at the 2005 Izard County Fair & Livestock
Show Awards Program held Saturday evening, September 25 at
Melbourne.
The names of all
livestock exhibitors were placed in a drawing for two $250
scholarships from Ozarka College.
Brian Sanders,
a senior at Calico Rock, and
Lester Greenhaw,
a senior at Izard County Consolidated, received those scholarships.
Green Family Farms
sponsored the Spirit of America Award to honor those who lost their
lives on 9-11-01. The judge was asked to pick youngsters who
exhibited sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication. The winners of
this award were

of Calico Rock FFA.
Leveda
Tate, Nancy Pratt, Carroll Prewett,

received special recognition for their dedication to the 4-H program
in Izard County.

Arnold, Sidney Y 4-H, Vivian Mitchell, Lone Star 4-H, Janice
Conyers, Mt. Pleasant 4-H, Kim Lewis, Fox Hill 4-H, Wayne Neal,
Izard County Consolidated FFA, Tim Cunningham, and Calico Rock FFA
received special recognition for their contributions to the fair.

Blankenship of Sandy Rock Salers
with a 2005 Izard County Premier Award. The Blankenship family has
been longtime supporters of the Izard County Fair. The Blankenship’s
have been a very successful family in the cattle industry on the
county, state, and national level and have helped set the standard
for cattle in Izard County.
Izard County Consolidated FFA honored

& Deana Taylor of Taylor Farms
and
Taylor
Feed Mill
with a 2005 Izard County Premier Breeder Award. The Taylor’s have
been instrumental in establishing a successful FFA program at ICC,
and several students displayed top quality animals that originated
from the Taylor Farm.
